Dev log

What shipped.

Short dated notes on the work, per product. Newest first.

First-scan gate

Until a folder is connected, the app is the wizard. Inbox, Board, Released, Insights, and Triage send you to Workspaces until then. On browsers that cannot scan, the marketing pages show a one-time notice that names the device and the fix, and inside the app those browsers get a full-page explainer with a link to carry to the computer. A second device on Studio is unaffected. The onboarding emails got a copy pass and a Studio note, and every mention of assistant access now reads: Assistants read your board, never your audio.

Shipped

  • First-scan gate until a folder is connected
  • Browser notice on the marketing pages
  • Full-page explainer for browsers that cannot scan
  • Visible error when the folder picker fails
  • Help and feedback in the user menu
  • Onboarding email copy pass with a Studio note
  • Assistant phrase: read your board, never your audio

Profile hub tiles and an About card

Artists have a bio and music types, shown in an About card on their page. I rebuilt the profile hub tiles and removed the card style from the theme, so pages sit flat on their ground. Checkout and handle claiming follow the same path, and the not-found page was refined.

Shipped

  • Bio and music types
  • About card
  • Rebuilt profile hub tiles
  • Card style removed from themes
  • Aligned checkout and handle claim
  • Refined not-found page

Projects replaced timelines

Projects are the new way to tell the story around a body of work. Each project has a public page with a log of updates, the log also shows on release pages, and updates land in the fan feed where fans can react. The admin has a projects list with project and update editors. The old timeline feature is gone.

Shipped

  • Public project pages
  • Project update log
  • Log on release pages
  • Feed updates with reactions
  • Projects admin and editors
  • Timeline feature removed

Page toggles for releases and shows

Artists choose from site settings whether a release page leads with the main link, shows related galleries, and lists past shows. The admin got a Pages section, and galleries and shows got a layout pass.

Shipped

  • Lead with main link toggle
  • Related galleries toggle
  • Past shows toggle
  • Pages section in the admin

Classic pipeline and standalone checklists

I retired the built-in pipeline. Every workspace that used it now owns a Classic pipeline it can edit. Checklists are no longer tied to a phase; a pipeline references them, and From Crate lists every catalog checklist so each can be adopted on its own. A Label release checklist joined the catalog. Crate also asks the browser to keep the local library so it is not cleared out.

Shipped

  • Classic pipeline owned by each workspace
  • Built-in pipeline retired
  • Checklists no longer tied to a phase
  • Every catalog checklist adoptable on its own
  • Label release checklist
  • Local library kept by the browser
  • Workspace Wizard fix

From Crate catalog, and pipelines for every plan

I shipped From Crate, a catalog of pre-made pipelines and checklists. It opens from the Library's Pipelines and Checklists tabs and from the pipeline picker, so the Wizard, triage start, and the board chooser can all adopt one. Adopting makes an editable copy of your own. It launched with four pipelines, a loop-to-track pipeline, and two Releasing checklists. The same day I opened pipelines and checklists to every plan, including Free.

Shipped

  • From Crate catalog
  • Four pipelines and two Releasing checklists
  • Loop-to-track pipeline
  • Adopt makes an editable copy
  • From Crate door in the pipeline picker
  • Pipelines and checklists on every plan
  • Wizard pipeline step redesigned

Scheduled releases and Connect v2

Releases can be scheduled for a publish time, with a scheduled state in the admin and a monitor for the drop emails that go out. Connect, the profile header, the fan feed, and analytics each got a second version, plus a support form, a QR code sharing page, and a black theme toggle. Fans can leave the artist a note, follow from the dock, choose to share their email with an artist, and turn a fan account into an artist account from settings. Shows appear in the feed.

Shipped

  • Scheduled release publishing
  • Drop email monitor
  • Connect v2
  • Fan feed v2 and analytics v2
  • QR code sharing page
  • Black theme toggle
  • Notes from fans to artists
  • Fan to artist account switch

Workspace Wizard and the scan wall

The create-workspace card became a Workspace Wizard that teaches Crate's concepts in order, and the card title opens Edit workspace. Browsers that cannot connect a folder now get an explanation of why scanning is blocked, and the guide deck opens with a card about the browser requirement.

Shipped

  • Workspace Wizard replaces the create card
  • Card title opens Edit workspace
  • Scan wall explained on unsupported browsers
  • Guide deck opens with the browser card

Admin polish after the move

I walked the app after the move and fixed three bugs: release previews picking up the artist photo, a Connect tile showing the wrong icons, and sign-in links landing on the sign-up tab. Shows got a verified place search and a proper date picker, and every editor shares one layout. Gallery playback works on a phone again, preloads the next slide, and respects reduced motion. Artists can drag their links into order, limits follow the plan, and Settings explains the free builder plan.

Shipped

  • Three bug fixes from the post-move walk
  • Place search and date picker for shows
  • One editor layout
  • Gallery playback on a phone
  • Drag-and-drop link ordering
  • Limits that follow the plan
  • Free builder plan explained in Settings

Renamed to Soundliner

Soundlink became Soundliner. The rename landed the same day I moved the app to server rendering, so artist pages carry their title and image wherever they are shared. I removed every reference to the waitlist and added a reset password flow with new sign-in emails.

Shipped

  • Soundliner name across the app
  • Server rendering for artist pages
  • Waitlist references removed
  • Reset password flow
  • New sign-in emails

The manual and onboarding emails

I published a workflow manual at /manual with seven concept pages, and the app links into it from places like Inbox zero and the empty Released page. The guide deck now leads with checklists and links each card to its manual page. The onboarding email sequence is on. Crate also collects anonymous usage analytics, with no cookies and no session recording, and the privacy policy says so.

Shipped

  • Workflow manual at /manual
  • Manual links from inside the app
  • Guide deck linked to the manual
  • Onboarding email sequence
  • Anonymous usage analytics, no cookies
  • Privacy policy updated

I cut the default checklists from 37 items to 7, outcomes only. Duplicate Released cards from using more than one device are fixed, and a first scan no longer leaves an empty inbox.

Shipped

  • Default checklists cut from 37 items to 7
  • Duplicate Released cards fixed
  • Empty inbox after a first scan fixed

Guide deck and a landing pass

I shipped the guide deck, a set of cards that teach Crate's concepts in order. Each card shows once. The landing page got several passes and a pricing section.

Shipped

  • Guide deck
  • Each guide card shows once
  • Landing page pruned and refined
  • Pricing section on the landing page

Pricing page and annual billing

There is a standalone pricing page with an annual option, linked from the footer. I also fixed the Connect tile disappearing on a page that had not gone live yet.

Shipped

  • Standalone pricing page
  • Annual billing option
  • Pricing link in the footer
  • Connect tile fix before go-live

Record sleeve on every public page

The waitlist, features, sign-in, legal, and email confirmation pages all moved onto the record sleeve, and the features page was rewritten as liner notes. A handle that sits unused for 30 days is released, and a returning artist sees their old handle prefilled. Fan settings got a name field and a delete account option, the follower count is exact, and Apple sign-in was removed. Theme v2 landed in three batches.

Shipped

  • Record sleeve on every public page
  • Features page as liner notes
  • 30-day handle release
  • Old handle prefilled for returners
  • Theme v2
  • Exact follower count
  • Fan name and account deletion
  • Apple sign-in removed

Released page with synced receipts

I built a Released page. A project that has gone live leaves the board and gets a receipt that records the release. On Studio, receipts sync to the cloud and reach other devices right away. A receipt never changes once written, and the bounce's file path never leaves the computer. Every place a live project is locked offers the way to re-open it.

Shipped

  • Released page for live projects
  • A receipt for each release
  • Receipts synced across devices on Studio
  • Receipts never change once written
  • Bounce file paths stay on the computer
  • Re-open a live project from any lock

Sessions card and live updates

I added a Sessions card to the project page that reads Live's Backup folder to show recent working days and a save count. Notes an assistant adds now show up in an open project without a trip to the board, and a dropped connection catches up when it returns. A cloud update no longer reverts a checkbox you just clicked. The board's pipeline tag now opens the pipeline picker and previews each board on hover.

Shipped

  • Sessions card from the Backup folder
  • Pipeline chooser in the board's top bar
  • Assistant notes appear in the open project
  • Catch-up after a dropped connection
  • Unsent edits are never reverted
  • Assistant notes get an icon in History

Pipelines replace board layouts

I replaced board layouts with pipelines. A workspace has a default pipeline, each project follows one, and the board draws its columns from it. Triage picks the pipeline at the start of a session and is now the only way onto the board; the inbox has its own page. Pipelines live in the Library, and checklists on a custom pipeline no longer vanish on reload.

Shipped

  • Pipelines replace layouts
  • Board columns come from the pipeline
  • Triage picks a pipeline per session
  • Triage is the only door to the board
  • Inbox as its own page
  • New workspaces get a default pipeline
  • Custom pipeline checklists survive reload

Assistants can connect to Crate

I opened Crate to assistants. A Labs section in Settings shows one connect link that works for any assistant client, on the Studio plan. An assistant can read the board and add a note to a project; it can only append, never overwrite. The Labs card also holds a Coming soon slot for the Crate Sidecar download.

Shipped

  • Labs section in Settings
  • One MCP connect link for any assistant, on Studio
  • Assistants can read the board
  • Assistants can add notes, append only
  • Sidecar download slot marked Coming soon

Launch day

Launch day. I did a final cleanup, then fixed what the day turned up: a dialog regression, drag jitter on the board, and triage with custom phases. Rescan works again on healthy folders.

Shipped

  • Launch cleanup
  • Dialog regression fixed
  • Board drag jitter fixed
  • Triage with custom phases fixed
  • Rescan restored on healthy folders

Closed up ahead of launch

I closed the app to everyone but me ahead of launch. Crate installs as an app from the browser and prompts when an update is ready. Sign-up now verifies your email. The free plan is one workspace stored on your computer, and if a Studio subscription lapses, the extra workspaces lock with options for the data. The Getting Started flow was simplified, and Apple sign-in was removed.

Shipped

  • App closed ahead of launch
  • Install as an app with an update prompt
  • Email verification at sign-up
  • Free plan: one workspace, local only
  • Extra workspaces lock when Studio lapses
  • Changed bounces flagged in History
  • Simpler Getting Started flow
  • Apple sign-in removed

Free artists have caps on what they can publish, and the fan feed shows galleries alongside releases. I removed invite codes, so anyone can sign up, and rewrote onboarding and the sign-in emails in the brand voice. Artists can preview their page before it goes live. Public artist pages load faster because they no longer download the admin.

Shipped

  • Caps for free artists
  • Galleries in the fan feed
  • Invite codes removed
  • Onboarding rewritten
  • Preview mode for artists
  • Faster public pages
  • Unsubscribe links in emails

New card look

I changed how verification cards look. Cards made from today on look different from earlier ones. I also fixed a card link that sent people to the wrong place.

Shipped

  • New look for verification cards
  • Card link fix

Billing self-service

The Account page now shows your actual subscription state. You can resume a canceled subscription in one click, see the card on file, and jump straight to the right page in the billing portal. I added a checkout panel to the paywall and resubscribe screens and fixed a scrolling bug in the checkout overlay. I also removed a test pricing banner and tidied copy across the app.

Shipped

  • Real subscription state on the Account page
  • One-click resume for a canceled subscription
  • Card on file shown in Account
  • Direct links into the billing portal
  • Checkout panel on paywall and resubscribe screens
  • Checkout overlay scroll fix

Fan accounts and a new direction

Fans are a second account type: free, no invite code, with a chronological feed of releases from the artists they follow and a floating dock that travels with them onto artist pages. The same day I removed discovery, the press kit, and the go-live flow, and redesigned the landing page and dashboard around a record sleeve. Events went back to being a shows page. Privacy and terms pages went up, and checkout during onboarding no longer bounces.

Shipped

  • Free fan accounts
  • Feed of releases from followed artists
  • Floating fan dock with follow
  • Discovery and press kit removed
  • Record sleeve landing page and dashboard
  • Shows page for artists
  • Privacy and terms pages

Project page rebuild, Library, and real screenshots

I rebuilt the project page: a header band, a Details rail, a stack of peek cards, an activity timeline, and a rich text editor for notes. Scanning moved off the main thread, so the app stays responsive during a scan, and the parser now reads backup metadata and sample paths. The Library became a tabbed page with Workspaces, Collections, Checklists, and Layouts, with a layouts editor that stamps a layout onto a workspace. The landing page uses real product screenshots, Insights gained Consistency and Signature share cards, and a subscription can be cancelled and resumed from the pricing page.

Shipped

  • Project page with a Details rail and peek cards
  • Rich text editor for project notes
  • App stays responsive during a scan
  • Backup metadata and sample paths read from sets
  • Library as a tabbed page
  • Phase layouts editor
  • Real product screenshots on the landing page
  • Cancel and resume a subscription

Bounces synced to phone

I shipped bounces. Crate finds the bounced audio next to a Live set and plays it in a docked player. On Studio, a bounce syncs to the cloud so it plays on a phone; synced bounces expire after a while, and the project shows when one arrives. The Bounces card sits on the project page next to the activity timeline.

Shipped

  • Bounce found beside each set
  • Docked bounce player
  • Bounce sync on Studio
  • Bounce player on a phone
  • Synced bounces expire
  • Bounces card on the project page
  • Signal when a bounce arrives

Free and Studio replace Solo

I retired the Solo plan. Crate now has two plans: Free, which is one workspace stored on your computer, and Studio, which adds sync across devices. I rebuilt the pricing page around the two, corrected claims that were no longer true, and removed the founder plan.

Shipped

  • Solo plan retired
  • Free plan: one workspace, local only
  • Studio plan with sync
  • Pricing page rebuilt around Free and Studio
  • Founder plan removed
  • Pricing claims corrected

Studio plan and plan switching

I added a Studio plan next to Solo, with a plan picker at checkout. Plan changes go through a confirmation, and a downgrade from Studio is capped to what the lower plan allows. The free tier is now one workspace. The project panel got a Notes tab and a desktop redesign, and the header collapses on a phone.

Shipped

  • Studio plan alongside Solo
  • Plan picker at checkout
  • Plan change confirmation
  • Studio downgrade cap
  • Free tier set to one workspace
  • Notes tab on the project panel
  • Desktop panel redesign
  • Collapsible header on a phone

Guides section and song titles on cards

I added a guides section to the site with breadcrumbs. Project cards now show the song title with a subtitle. Deleted workspaces and projects are cleared out after a delay rather than at once, and duplicate detection was reworked to handle large folders. The board is blocked on mobile, where it did not work well.

Shipped

  • Guides section with breadcrumbs
  • Song title and subtitle on cards
  • Deleted items cleared after a delay
  • Duplicate detection reworked for large folders
  • Board blocked on mobile
  • Footer links grouped

New design system and support

I redesigned the landing page and applied a new design system across the app. There is an in-app support form and a feedback form in Settings. Triage got a filter, keyboard hints, and a filmstrip in place of the progress bar. Sets saved by the Live 12.4.5 beta read correctly.

Shipped

  • Landing page redesign
  • New design system across the app
  • In-app support form
  • Feedback form in Settings
  • Triage filter and keyboard hints
  • Filmstrip replaces the progress bar
  • Onboarding info button
  • Live 12.4.5 beta sets supported

Insights and shareable cards

I renamed Stats to Insights and rewrote the page as a grid of cards. Insights can be shared as portrait images, with the artist name pulled from Settings. Search is now one box that matches loosely, so a typo still finds the project. A workspace can hold up to 2,500 projects. Mobile triage was redesigned.

Shipped

  • Stats renamed to Insights
  • Insights page rewritten
  • Shareable Insights cards
  • Portrait share frames
  • Artist name from Settings on share cards
  • One search box with loose matching
  • Mobile triage redesign
  • Project limit of 2,500

I pulled the Info Text out of each Live set, so notes written in Ableton show up on the project in Crate. I fixed key filter matching and removed the BPM range filter.

Shipped

  • Notes written in Ableton shown on projects
  • Key filter matching fixed
  • BPM range filter removed

Deadlines, Mark as Live, and a roadmap with votes

I added deadlines to project cards with a color key, and a Mark as Live action that records when a project shipped. Projects that had already gone live were marked. I built a roadmap page where people can vote. Scanning got a progress bar and an inline wizard instead of a separate page. The terms now name Paddle as merchant of record, and the emails Crate sends were redesigned.

Shipped

  • Deadlines on cards with a color key
  • Mark as Live with a live date
  • Roadmap page with voting
  • Scan progress bar
  • Inline scan wizard
  • Undo on small deletes
  • Redesigned emails
  • Terms name Paddle as merchant of record

Billing moved to Paddle

I moved billing from Stripe to Paddle. Subscribing now goes through a Paddle checkout from the profile page. A pricing page went up the same week with a link in the footer.

Shipped

  • Paddle checkout from the profile page
  • Subscribe flow on Paddle
  • Pricing page
  • Pricing link in the footer
  • Billing portal fixes

Public pricing page

I added a public pricing page and linked to it from across the site. It shows the single plan and its price.

Shipped

  • Public pricing page
  • Links to pricing across the site

Payments live

I turned on payments. The plan is $49 a month, paid by card through Stripe. Checkout now happens on the site instead of sending you to a Stripe page, and tax is worked out at checkout. I fixed a few bugs in the customer portal the same day.

Shipped

  • Payments switched on
  • $49 a month plan available to buy
  • Checkout on the site with no redirect
  • Tax calculated at checkout
  • Customer portal fixes

Billing moved to Paddle

I switched billing from Stripe to Paddle, so checkout and subscription management run through Paddle. Pricing references were updated to $25 and the billing flow for free accounts was fixed. Over the next two days I cleaned out empty and test accounts and set up Soundlink-branded sign-in emails.

Shipped

  • Paddle checkout and billing
  • $25 pricing
  • Free account billing flow fix
  • Branded sign-in emails

Collections and the project page

I added collections, so projects can be grouped across the board, with assignment from the triage toolbar and an undo. The project page got three tabs, a description drawer, links, a Musical DNA section, and a two-column timeline. Triage now reports how many projects were sorted and skipped. Workspaces are capped at five, with a banner when you get close. I rebuilt the landing sections and added a consent checkbox to sign-up.

Shipped

  • Collections with assignment from triage and undo
  • Three-tab project page
  • Description drawer and links
  • Musical DNA section
  • Sorted and skipped counts after triage
  • Dark mode toggle
  • Workspace cap of five
  • Consent checkbox at sign-up

Inbox becomes Triage, board gets Trello navigation

I renamed Inbox to Triage and gave the board a Trello-style layout, with a docked inbox panel and lanes that scroll on their own. The top bar went icon-only, with a command palette for search and a layout for tablets. Settings got a redesign with the danger zone tucked away, and sync now shows an indicator.

Shipped

  • Inbox renamed to Triage
  • Trello-style board with a docked inbox
  • Command palette for search
  • Icon-only top bar and tablet layout
  • Sync indicator
  • Settings redesign with a collapsible danger zone
  • Permission denied handled on folders
  • Larger touch targets on mobile

Account deletion and a waitlist

I added self-serve account deletion, with a confirmation step and an FAQ entry on the landing page. Billing now sends lifecycle emails, and Settings shows a history of what was sent. Sign-in checks the waitlist, so only approved people get in. A folder that is unreachable or not connected now says which, and restoring a workspace prefers the cloud copy over a stale local one.

Shipped

  • Self-serve account deletion
  • Billing emails with a sent history
  • Waitlist check at sign-in
  • Settings split into tabs
  • New logo and favicon
  • Clear states for unreachable and not-connected folders
  • Cloud-first restore of a workspace

Workspaces and password reset

I added workspaces. A folder on one computer is its own space with its own board template. I rewrote the password reset flow and added a reconnect screen for when a folder needs permission again. I redesigned the landing page, and it now says plainly that Safari and Firefox cannot scan. A pass on labels and copy brought the app in line with the Crate voice.

Shipped

  • Workspaces tied to a computer and a folder
  • Board template per workspace
  • Password reset
  • Reconnect screen when a folder needs permission again
  • Settings page and user menu
  • Missing files indicator in the toolbar
  • Landing page redesign
  • Safari and Firefox named as unsupported

Lapsed and canceled account flows

I fixed where users with a lapsed subscription land after signing in. I closed gaps in the flow for canceled subscriptions. I added a Close Your Account page.

Shipped

  • Redirect fix for lapsed subscriptions
  • Canceled subscription flow gaps closed
  • Close Your Account page

Link previews

Shared profile links now unfurl with a proper title, image, and description in iMessage and elsewhere. Previews are built on the server so every messaging app sees them.

Shipped

  • Rich link previews
  • iMessage previews
  • Preview image from the artist's profile

Gallery wizard and a flatter admin

Galleries are built in a wizard with a story mode slide editor, a phone-frame preview, and an immersive playback view. The admin lost its cards: every page is left-aligned with one style of tabs and one visibility selector, the profile hub got category cards, and the top bar is the same everywhere. Artists can change their handle and the old one redirects. Storage went to 1.5GB and discovery moved behind sign-in.

Shipped

  • Gallery wizard with story mode
  • Immersive gallery playback
  • Profile hub category cards
  • Flatter admin without cards
  • Handle changes with redirects
  • Promo renamed to Press Kits
  • 1.5GB storage
  • Discovery behind sign-in

Card page redesign

I redesigned the card page: one toolbar strip with revoke in it, a status area, and a QR Only overlay tile. I merged the dashboard into the Cards page, added icon-only filter tabs on small screens, and made adding a platform link an inline form on the card. I rewrote the Creator Kit page and brought the guides in line with the app's labels and dimensions. I also added an email unsubscribe page.

Shipped

  • Card page toolbar and status area
  • QR Only overlay tile
  • Dashboard merged into the Cards page
  • Inline add-link form on the card page
  • Icon-only filter tabs on small screens
  • Rewritten Creator Kit page
  • Email unsubscribe page

Older Live sets and scan controls

I made the scanner handle sets saved by older versions of Live. When a set uses the older tempo format, Crate still reads it and the card says so. BPM and key are no longer editable, since Crate reads them from the file. A scan can be stopped mid-run, and a failed file shows its error details.

Shipped

  • Older Live sets read correctly
  • Note on cards with legacy metadata
  • BPM and key read from the file only
  • Stop a scan mid-run
  • Error details when a file fails
  • Sort by date added, track count, or duration
  • Expandable plugin list on the Stats page

First working build

I built the first version of Crate in three days. It reads a folder of Ableton Live sets with read-only access and lays the projects out on a board by phase, with drag and drop between columns. New sets land in an inbox and get sorted through a triage queue, with swipe triage on a phone. I added Google and Apple sign-in, cloud sync behind a paid Pro plan, a stats page, and a first landing page.

Shipped

  • Board with drag and drop by phase
  • Inbox and triage queue
  • Swipe triage on a phone
  • Rescans that pick up only what changed
  • Phase checklist templates
  • Google and Apple sign-in
  • Pro plan with cloud sync
  • Stats page and CSV export

Waitlist opened

I put up a waitlist landing page with a features section. Joining is a two-step invite sign-up. Everyone who joins gets a confirmation email.

Shipped

  • Waitlist landing page
  • Features section
  • Two-step invite sign-up
  • Waitlist confirmation email

Free trial removed

I removed the 14-day free trial from checkout and added an FAQ entry saying so. I fixed a checkout loop that kept some subscribers from getting in. Sign-up now asks only for email and password, and onboarding is one flow. Creator bios now show on public pages.

Shipped

  • No free trial at checkout
  • FAQ entry on the trial
  • Checkout loop fix
  • Sign-up asks only for email and password
  • One onboarding flow
  • Creator bio on public pages

Official brand mark

I replaced the generated brand mark with the official one, a circled checkmark on a rounded square. The favicon, app icons, and social preview image all use it now. The mark follows the light or dark theme and matches the surface it sits on.

Shipped

  • Official brand mark
  • Favicon and app icons updated
  • Social preview image updated
  • Mark follows the light or dark theme

Guides, Creator Kit, and a 14-day trial

I replaced the founding plan with a 14-day trial for everyone, removed the Launching Soon badge, and added an FAQ to the landing page. Creators can now offer an RSS feed of their verification records from the status page, and account deletion became a request with a 30-day cooling-off period. I added avatar upload with cropping, emails on subscription events, banners that get more urgent as a cancellation date approaches, and recommended OBS dimensions in Streaming settings. I published guides for stream overlay setup, best practices, and how to verify, plus an in-app Creator Kit.

Shipped

  • 14-day trial for everyone
  • Launching Soon badge removed
  • RSS feed of verification records
  • 30-day cooling-off account deletion
  • Avatar upload with crop
  • Emails on subscription events
  • Public guide pages
  • In-app Creator Kit

Admin view

I added an admin view for approving creator verifications and handling account deletions.

Shipped

  • Creator verification approvals
  • Account deletion queue

Screen links for streaming software

I built screen links for OBS and other broadcast software. A browser source can show a card on stream without logging in. Each card has two links: a Screen Link with the card alone, and an Explainer with the card, a verified message, and a QR code. The status page shows a live badge while a creator is streaming, and the creator controls when the overlay is visible from OBS.

Shipped

  • Card overlay for OBS with no login
  • Screen Link and Explainer per card
  • Explainer panel with QR code
  • Live badge on the status page
  • Streaming settings tab

Design overhaul and subscription billing

I reworked the design: a navy palette, a single top nav, and a light, dark, or system theme picker. The status page got a 90-day activity timeline, compact card rows, a bio, and platform links. I set the plan at a single $49 a month, after briefly trying $199, and built subscription billing on Stripe with banners for past-due and canceled accounts and a grace period. Handles became permanent and case-insensitive, and I added Google and Apple sign-in, Privacy and Terms pages, and a How It Works guide after claiming a handle.

Shipped

  • Navy palette and single top nav
  • Light, dark, or system theme
  • 90-day activity timeline on the status page
  • Single $49 a month plan
  • Stripe subscription billing
  • Google and Apple sign-in
  • Permanent, case-insensitive handles
  • How It Works guide

Site published in waitlist mode

I published the site in waitlist mode ahead of launch. Every call to action on the landing page collects an email address, sign-in and dashboard routes send you back to the landing page, and the hero shows a Launching Soon badge. Waitlist sign-ups go onto a mailing list. I also added a social preview image and app icons.

Shipped

  • Waitlist email capture on the landing page
  • Launching Soon badge
  • Sign-in and dashboard closed until launch
  • Waitlist joined to a mailing list
  • Social preview image and app icons

Card lifecycle and public pages

Cards now move through three states: staged, published, and revoked. A creator downloads a staged card, publishes it with a content title and platform link, and can revoke it later with a reason. Publishing ends on a share screen, and every card has its own public page. I added a demo status page, an overlay page for OBS, a QR overlay page, and pricing on the landing page, and redesigned the status page, the single card view, and the profile header.

Shipped

  • Staged, published, and revoked card states
  • Card download
  • Publish flow with a share screen
  • Revoke a card with a reason
  • Public page for every card
  • Demo status page
  • OBS overlay page
  • QR overlay page

Invite codes

Sign-up moved behind invite codes. I reworked the profile page layout and the bio and avatar area, and fixed a run of onboarding bugs.

Shipped

  • Invite code sign-up
  • Profile page layout
  • Bio and avatar area redesign
  • Onboarding bug fixes

Started building 4DAuth

I started 4DAuth in Lovable and built the first version in one day. Creators sign up, claim a handle, and get a verification card to show in their videos. Cards carry a content title, pick up the platform from a pasted link, and can be marked revoked. Each account has a card limit, and creators can delete their account.

Shipped

  • Sign-up and handle claim
  • First verification card
  • Content title on cards
  • Platform detected from a pasted link
  • Revoked card status
  • Card limit per account
  • Account deletion

Mobile pass and red theme

I did a mobile pass on the marketing pages and admin tables, with a fluid-width layout and consistent spacing. The logo was replaced and a red theme applied. Support email addresses were replaced with community links, and free campaign references were removed.

Shipped

  • Mobile layout fixes across the site
  • Fluid-width layout
  • Red theme
  • New logo
  • Community links instead of support emails
  • Free campaign references removed
  • Admin tables usable on phones

I rewrote the homepage and About page copy, including an AppCat Method section and a new FAQ. Templates can now be marked coming soon. Collections have a display order and can be unpublished. The footer lost its email link, and Google and Apple sign-in were removed.

  • New FAQ
  • Coming soon status for templates
  • Collection display order
  • Collections can be unpublished
  • Footer email link removed
  • Google and Apple sign-in removed

Blog launched

I added a blog with an admin editor. Posts are written in markdown, use images from the media library, and show an author profile, tags and related posts. Each category has its own archive page.

  • Author profiles
  • Tags and categories
  • Category archive pages

I can now feature templates, add cover images to collections, and manage every image from a new Media Library with a shared picker. Template edits gained a Versions tab. Buyers get their templates through a Circle course instead of a public remix link, and the free templates page carries a Circle sign-up form. Discord links now point to the community.

  • Versions tab on template edit
  • Delivery through a Circle course
  • Circle sign-up form on the free page

Rebuilt as a Lovable template marketplace

I rebuilt AppCat as a marketplace for Lovable templates, replacing the client-services site. Visitors can browse templates, open a detail page for each one, explore collections and pick up free templates, with a thank-you page after checkout. Paid templates are sold through Lemon Squeezy. I carried the admin area over to manage templates and collections and added a changelog.

Shipped

  • Templates browse and detail pages
  • Collections
  • Free templates page
  • Checkout through Lemon Squeezy
  • Thank-you page
  • Admin for templates and collections

Unified publishing and an event wizard

Everything an artist publishes shares one go-live control, and a visibility page shows what is public at a glance. Events are created through a step-by-step wizard with a rebuilt public view and a full-width hero image. Links became a standalone page, admin pages went full width, and missing music platforms were added.

Shipped

  • One publish control for everything
  • Visibility overview page
  • Step-by-step event creation
  • Rebuilt public event page
  • Standalone Links page
  • Full-width admin pages
  • More music platforms

Discovery homepage, following feed, and soundlink.io

Discovery became the homepage, with a redesigned card grid and a following feed for signed-in fans. I pointed the app at soundlink.io, added Google and Apple sign-in, and made dates follow your timezone. Analytics got a redesign with timeline and release views, and fan subscribers moved into analytics. Events support a lineup of several artists, Mixcloud joined the supported platforms, and some features now sit behind a paid plan.

Shipped

  • Discovery as the homepage
  • Following feed for fans
  • soundlink.io domain
  • Google and Apple sign-in
  • Analytics redesign
  • Multi-artist event lineups
  • Mixcloud support
  • Paid plan for some features

I refreshed the brand assets, logo and link preview image. Clients can now sign in with Google or Apple. I rewrote the hero around the client portal, reworked the services and track-record copy, and dropped the 24-hour promise. The FAQ was expanded with pricing and workspace collaboration answers and sorted into categories, and the leads pages and portal were tuned for phones and tablets.

Shipped

  • Refreshed brand assets
  • Google and Apple sign-in
  • Hero and services copy rewrite
  • 24-hour promise removed
  • Categorized FAQ with pricing answers
  • Leads pages and portal on phones and tablets
  • Redesigned email templates admin

Fan newsletters and discovery

Fans can subscribe to an artist's newsletter and confirm by email, and artists get a fan list manager. I added a discovery page that adapts to whether you are signed in, overhauled the artist dashboard, and redesigned the landing page again.

Shipped

  • Per-artist newsletter with email confirmation
  • Fan list manager
  • Discovery page
  • Artist dashboard overhaul
  • Landing page redesign

Fixed-price sprints replace subscriptions

I moved pricing from subscriptions to fixed-price sprints two days after adding the subscription dashboard. The pricing page and the sprint views in the portal were updated to match. Each client now gets their own Trello board instead of one shared link. I added a How It Works timeline and refreshed the marketing copy.

Shipped

  • Fixed-price sprint pricing
  • Subscription checkout removed
  • A Trello board per client
  • How It Works timeline
  • Refreshed marketing copy

Portal simplified

I removed chat one week after adding it and simplified the portal to a set of project links, including a link to the project's Trello board. The admin and client project pages were redesigned. I moved the portal toward a subscription model with a subscription dashboard and cut onboarding to eight steps. Prospects now book their own consultation, and I can preview the portal as a client sees it.

Shipped

  • Chat removed
  • Portal reduced to project links
  • Trello board link on projects
  • Redesigned project pages
  • Subscription dashboard
  • Onboarding cut to eight steps
  • Self-booked consultations
  • Admin preview of the client view

I added in-app chat so clients and I can message inside the portal. The pricing page was redesigned and gained a Micro Sprint tier and a timeline that shows how work is shared along the way. Add-ons were removed from pricing. Admin pages now work on phones with icon-only tabs, new leads have a Schedule Call button, and Terms and Privacy live on one tabbed page.

Shipped

  • In-app chat between clients and admin
  • Micro Sprint pricing tier
  • Show-work timeline on the pricing page
  • Add-ons removed from pricing
  • Admin pages usable on phones
  • Schedule Call button on new leads
  • Terms and Privacy on one page

Client portal with onboarding, payments and email

I replaced the contact form with a multi-step onboarding form that collects project details and lets prospects book a call. New leads get a welcome email, and I get a notification. In the client portal, clients can pay phase invoices by card through Stripe and receive invoice and payment confirmation emails. On the admin side I added a project wizard, a lead wizard that checks for duplicates, and a preview of every email, and I simplified billing to two invoices per project.

Shipped

  • Multi-step onboarding form with call booking
  • Welcome email for new leads
  • Card payment on invoices through Stripe
  • Invoice and payment confirmation emails
  • Admin project and lead wizards
  • Email preview in admin
  • Two invoices per project

New look and dark mode

I reworked the site navigation and moved the palette from violet to orange across the site, the sign-in screens, the portal and the admin area. I added dark mode with a toggle in the header, and it follows the system setting by default. Clients can pick their own theme in the portal. I cleaned up the Services, About, Case Studies and Contact pages and put a dashboard mockup in the hero.

Shipped

  • Reworked navigation
  • Orange palette
  • Dark mode toggle in the header
  • Theme follows the system setting
  • Portal theme picker
  • Cleaned up Services, About, Case Studies and Contact pages
  • Dashboard mockup in the hero

AppCat started

I started AppCat on Lovable as a client-services site. Visitors could sign in with Google and send a contact form. I added an admin area to track leads and projects, turn a lead into a project, and manage project milestones. I also set the first logo and link preview image.

Shipped

  • Client-services site
  • Google sign-in
  • Contact form
  • Admin area for leads and projects
  • Lead to project conversion
  • Project milestones
  • First logo and link preview image

I folded the free tier into Pro and set alpha limits, with a usage view so an artist can see where they stand. Key parts of the app now need a subscription. Artists can delete their account from settings. The landing page was redesigned, and uploads got a banner preset and better image quality.

Shipped

  • Free tier folded into Pro
  • Alpha limits with a usage view
  • Subscription required for key parts of the app
  • Account deletion from settings
  • Landing page redesign
  • Banner upload preset

Checkout offers plan tiers instead of a single price. Images load faster because they are resized at upload and optimized on delivery. The content wall runs edge to edge on a phone, and cards show a fallback avatar when there is no image.

Shipped

  • Plan tiers at checkout
  • Faster image loading
  • Edge-to-edge content wall on a phone
  • Fallback avatars on cards

Shows became events

I renamed shows to events and gave each one a public page with a poster, a map location picker, date status toggles, and a sold-out marker. Event cards show the poster. Galleries got their own page address, and share links work anywhere they are pasted.

Shipped

  • Events with public pages
  • Posters on events
  • Map location picker
  • Date status and sold-out toggles
  • Own page address for galleries

Every release has its own page with a cover art picker, custom links, and a compact grid of platform buttons. Galleries got slideshow modes, captions, a lightbox, and playback synced to audio. The media library got bulk editing, theme presets can be renamed, duplicated, and deleted, and the press kit moved to a single embed with press quotes.

Shipped

  • A page for every release
  • Cover art picker
  • Custom links on releases
  • Slideshow modes, captions, and lightbox
  • Gallery playback synced to audio
  • Bulk editing in the media library
  • Rename, duplicate, and delete presets
  • Press quotes on the press kit

Theme editor beside a live preview

I rebuilt the theme editor to sit beside a live preview instead of on top of it, and changes only apply when saved. Colors got favorites, textures got an intensity slider, and there are four new presets plus four custom slots. On the profile side, social links moved to the top, and tabs on a phone show icons only.

Shipped

  • Theme editor beside a live preview
  • Changes apply on save
  • Favorite colors
  • Texture intensity slider
  • Four new theme presets
  • Four custom preset slots
  • Icon-only tabs on a phone

I stripped galleries back to grid and slideshow with autoplay. The music player keeps playing as a fan moves around a page. Shows pick their location from a map search, the dashboard shows real numbers, and every editor warns about unsaved changes.

Shipped

  • Grid and slideshow galleries with autoplay
  • Music player that keeps playing between pages
  • Map search for show locations
  • Dashboard with real numbers
  • Unsaved changes warning in editors
  • Settings moved to the sidebar

Smart links, theme presets, and Google sign-in

Releases became smart links with platform branding and a pre-save button. The theme editor got font pairing, card styles, accent color rules, and custom presets. I added Google sign-in to onboarding, made the whole admin work on a phone, and moved handle claiming to after payment. Every profile has a first version of analytics.

Shipped

  • Smart links for releases
  • Pre-save button
  • Font pairing and card styles
  • Custom theme presets
  • Google sign-in
  • Admin that works on a phone
  • First profile analytics
  • Handle claiming after payment

Better image uploads

I rebuilt image uploads. Images are optimized for delivery, checked automatically for unsafe content, and can be deleted from the library. Artists can see how much storage they have used and pick several images at once when building a gallery. The gallery editor became one layout with a live preview.

Shipped

  • Optimized image delivery
  • Automatic content check on upload
  • Delete images from the library
  • Storage usage display
  • Pick several images at once
  • Gallery editor with live preview

First working build

I built the first version of Soundlink in three days. An artist signs in, claims a handle, and gets a themed page at their own URL with social links, releases, a press kit, shows, a timeline, and image galleries. Pasting a release link pulls in the album art and the links for every platform. I added a media library, a theme editor with texture and font controls, and a merch link.

Shipped

  • Sign-in and handle-based page URLs
  • Theme editor with live preview
  • Releases with links for every platform
  • Album art pulled from a pasted link
  • Press kit, shows, and timeline pages
  • Media library and image galleries
  • Social links
  • Merch link
